Katherine Nordale papers, 1926-1956.

The Katherine Nordale Papers consist of 32 photographs of the Teller, Alaska, region and the dirigible Norge, circa 1926; 25 small portrait-style photographs of members and staff of the Alaska Territorial Legislature, 1933; and Katherine Nordale's copy of the Alaska state constitution, along with the pen with which she signed the original as a delegate to the Alaska constitutional convention.

Katherine D. Nordale (1902-1994), the daughter of James C. and Mary Driscoll, was born in Reardan, Washington. Educated at Washington State University, she began her teaching career in Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1925. In 1930 she married Alton Gerald Nordale, but was widowed in 1935. Thereafter, she held a number of different positions in public service, including deputy clerk of court in Fairbanks (1935-1943), U.S. Collector of Customs (1951-1953), and Juneau postmaster (1964-1971).
